YouthWorks Summer 2016 – Look inside for Orientation Schedule and Details!

This program is for Pittsfield residence between the ages of 16-21

MUST have a parent/guardian sign permission forms if under 18 years old- These can be collected at orientation

16+17 year old youth need to obtain a Massachusetts Work Permit, with parent signature

 No appointment needed for orientation! Just arrive arrive 5-10 minutes early. 

Eligibility: High School Diploma or Equivalent or youth who have officially withdrawn from the public schools

Income Eligibility: Youth must be determined income eligible following the 2016 poverty guidelines. Youth works staff will help participants calculate their family income level. Documents need to be provided.

Documents: Proof of address, photo id, proof of income, physical, copy of social security card, letter of recommendation, and proof of barrier if the youth has one. (Disability, Poor Academics, Child living in a single parent home, Foster child, Homeless, Pregnant or Parenting, Court involved)

Orientation Dates- Approximately 1 hour long

Program Dates:

The Youth Works program will provide 140 hours of paid program services which include mandatory Work Readiness and Workplace Safety training (15 hours) and work placement (125 hours) to eligible Pittsfield youth.

Youth will be paid $10 an hour.

  • July 11th- July 15th: Work Readiness & Workplace Safety Training

Total of 10 Hours of PAID training.

July 18th  Youth start working

  • July 29th: ALL youth re-convene for Work Readiness check-in and financial literacy training.

2.5 Hours of PAID training.

  • August 19th: ALL youth re-convene for Work Readiness closure and final completion of curriculum.

BerkshireWorks Career Center Staff Now Available in North Adams!

BerkshireWorks Career Center Staff will be available in North Adams – Mondays only, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Services include resume critique, interview preparation, career counseling, online job application assistance, and more.

Job Club with Millie Calesky will also be available in North Adams, on bi-weekly Mondays, beginning March 7, 2016, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

Walk-ins welcome! Room 101, City Hall, North Adams, MA.
